Analysis of Hospital’s Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Using Hospital Safety Index in Indonesia

Indonesia is country with abundant high-risk areas for various disasters that can affect both the structural and non-structural safety of vital establishments, particularly hospitals. This present study aims to examine level hospital index in nine hospitals four provinces based on guidelines from WHO/PAHO (World Health Organization/Pan American Organization). The Hospital Safety Index (HSI) consist parameters include types hazards, safety, emergency managements. was a cross-sectional data obtained through interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), observations, document reviews assess HSI. Data were calculated HSI score, descriptive statistics multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) carried out. SPSS software version 25.0 used statistical analysis. Results show overall 0.673 (Level A), meaning it likely will maintain functionality emergencies disasters. By province, A identified DKI Jakarta (0.76), Yogyakarta (0.709), West Java (0.673), showing these disaster situations; however, North Sumatera, categorized B category (0.507), demonstrating hospital’s ability function during after potentially at risk. shows tend achieve similar categories almost all assessment modules; therefore, control measures preparedness should be considered, such as improvements equipment facilities; response recovery planning; communication information management; training; relevant stakeholders awareness.
